Felix

9/26/2013

Picture
Felix is the story of a young boy who finds his way in a life that attempts to steer him in every direction except the one which he wishes to go.
Between an over-bearing mother and the class bullies, 14 year-old Felix (Hlayani Mabasa) finds it hard to keep on track, until he discovers his late father's saxophone. Fearing the wrath of his mother Felix practices in secret for the big concert where he can prove his choices have been worthwhile. It is a story of following your dreams but being smart about it in the process.

All in all Felix is a light, feel-good story about overcoming the odds. It would have packed a heavier punch however, if the relationships had been a little more realistic and the protagonist actually played the instrument in the film.
