This is by far one of the best films to come to VIFF.
Nicholas Wrathall is a marvellous filmmaker with a superb sense of rhythm. Gore Vidal: USA is both entertaining and informative with just the right amount of celeb-candy to balance the harsh truth of Vidal's political observations.
Vidal's unfaltering opinions and quick wit shine as brightly through the archival footage to present day 2012, and mark the end of an era. Vidal's brazen, unrepentant opinions on past presidents and policies may raise a few brows but cannot be denied as insightful and thought provoking.
This film is more than worth seeing if only for the conversations to follow.
