Cirque du Soleil's incredible production, TOTEM, opened in Vancouver May 15 to a sell out crowd.

Written and directed by Robert Lepage, Cirque du Soleil's TOTEM is a "fascinating journey into the evolution of mankind. On an island evoking the shape of a giant turtle, TOTEM traces humankind`s incredible journey – from our original amphibian state to our ultimate quest for flight. Along the way, it also explores our dreams and infinite potential, and the ties that bind us both to our collective animal beginnings and to the species that share the planet with us."
The show opens with bars, a hoop dancer, and rings trio. It evolves gracefully into a rings trio and then four unicycles with bowls.
Choreographer Jeff Hall works his magic with director of creation Neilson Vignola, lighting designer Etienne Boucher, image content designer Pedro Pires to bring us a breathtaking and flawlessly executed performance perfectly in sync with the action on stage.
The second half of the show boasts a fixed trapeze duo, Russian bars, a manipulation act, and a death - defying roller skate duo.
